Texsox
My daughter and I went to the Rangers - Royals spring training game in San Antonio's Alamodome. Crazy watching a baseball game played in an arena that is better suited for basketball. The dimensions were 350 down the left field line, 410 to center, 275 down the right field line. San Antonio supported the games. Both games were basically sold out with only scattered single seats available. Over 16,000 tickets were sold (8,000 per game) at $10 - $200 per seat. That seems pretty good for an "out of market" spring training game. There were a lot of Ranger fans of course but the Royals were well represented. I asked their fans a lot of questions ranging from politics, to baseball, to the Sox, in case I needed those comments later.
Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm
Was the game played at a stadium intended for baseball or another sport? Those dimensions seem very odd.
Leonard Zelig
What shape field is baseball normally played on?
Texsox
The game was played in the Alamo Dome. It is best set up for basketball or hockey. Imagine playing baseball inside the United Center.
Bananarchy
I would be interested to see whether a market like San Antonio can support a baseball team. When the Rangers played at Dell Diamond in an exhibition game, Round Rock was a mad house. I would be SO happy if SA got an AL team.
Texsox
They support the Spurs, but they have to be the easiest pro team to support. Class and wins. The Missions draw well. We just got a pro soccer team . . .
