Ducksnort
Here's my prediction for the opening day roster: 2016 Chicago White Sox Starting Lineup (vs. RHP) 1) Adam Eaton (RF) (L) 2) Jimmy Rollins (SS) (S) 3) Jose Abreu (1B) ® 4) Todd Frazier (3B) ® 5) Melky Cabrera (LF) (S) 6) Avisail Garcia (DH) ® 7) Brett Lawrie (2B) ® 8) Austin Jackson (CF) ® 9) Alex Avila © (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Bench 1) Dioner Navarro © (S) 2) Tyler Saladino (IF) ® 3) Carlos Sanchez (IF) (S) 4) J.B. Shuck (OF) (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Starting Rotation 1) Chris Sale (L) 2) Jose Quintana (L) 3) Carlos Rodon (L) 4) Matt Latos ® 5) John Danks (L) 2016 Chicago White Sox Bullpen 1) Erik Johnson ® (LRP) 2) Zach Duke (L) (MRP/SU) 3) Matt Albers ® (MRP/SU) 4) Jake Petricka ® (MRP/SU) 5) Nate Jones ® (MRP/SU) 6) Zach Putnam ® (MRP/SU) 7) David Robertson ® (CL) What do you guys think? I think this is a realistic roster prediction. I might take out Erik Johnson and throw in Dan Jennings for an extra lefty arm, but then there is no true long reliever. Maybe swap out Carlos Sanchez? Not sure, but I think him and Shuck are shoe-ins for the last two bench spots. I also think we will see Saladino start at SS more with lefties. I like the combo of Eaton and Rollins up top as table setters. I see a lot of bunting and hit and runs going on with those two.

My guess right now would be Sands. Also Erik Johnson is already in AAA. Jennings is on the roster for sure.

I also wouldn't doubt the sox are shopping a couple of these relievers for a LH bat.

A lot of "big if's" in this lineup. Yikes. Yea but they are replacing Alexei, Flowers and and one of Melky/Avi wrt to Jackson. Not exactly big shoes to fill. If the Sox can get 4-5 WAR combined from Rollins, Jackson and Avila/Navarro I think they will take it and it will go a long way towards getting to 86-88 wins. Fangraphs projections have the four collectively at 5 WAR, I think it's fairly reasonable. The guys they are replacing were collectively worth -0.1 WAR last year, so that'd be a big upgrade. We have four/five guys in our starting lineup upon whom we should have plenty of skepticism about based on "actual" recent performances. Garcia, Avila, Rollins and Jackson should scare the h-e-double-toothpick out of all of us at this point. That said, would you prefer the alternative of LaRoche, Flowers, Gillaspie/Beckham/Saladino, Alexei/Saladino, Sanchez, etc.? They had to do SOMETHING. There's no excuse at all for not adding another hitter, either. We have a pretty good idea Frazier will be a big upgrade, Abreu should settle in between 2014 and 2015 statistically (and with more protection), Eaton has a lot of room to grow defensively and was just fine offensively...and then you have Lawrie vs. Sanchez. It's almost impossible to believe they won't be a third quartile offense, somewhere between 8-12th in the AL. His .340 OBP was better than everyone other than Eaton and Abreu.

Jose Abreu
Also, I'm still a bit worried about our outfield defense. If we DH Garcia, then that still leaves Melky in LF and Eaton playing RF. We can't really know how he'll adjust
