TLAK
On March 19 the White Sox added Alex Katz to the 40 man roster. He's a 21 year old left handed pitcher drafted in the 27th round in 2015, never pitched above rookie ball. Why would the Sox use a 40 man roster spot for a 1st year draftee? flavum
He wasn't added to the 40-man. For whatever reason, teams have to declare a guy eligible to play in the big league spring training game, so those names appear in the transactions. Katz was probably brought up for one day on the 19th, but didn't get in the game.
