It was amazing how bad of a coach that Romar was at UW. Not shocked at all they moved on, in fact I applaud them for knowing that no matter the talent, Romar was not going to get the job done.

Ya, it was time to get rid of Romar. Might hurt them for a year but sometimes you have to do that for long term gain.

Williams and Pickett reaffirmed with their commitments with Illinois today. Frazier last week and Tilmon says he is, but we will see

Sturdy said it's unlikely that Illinois would even grant Tilmon his release now because he didn't ask for it when he met with Coach Underwood or shortly after. I doubt he's going anywhere.

He'd be dumb to bail. Sounds like Missouri is trying to get him, but if you're Illinois you're not allowing him to go to a rival and a team on the schedule. Is he really going to sit out a year?

That's a great point. I don't think he'll leave, but still am nervous.

Other news, Illinois hired OK State assistant Joey Biggs as an assistant coach. One more spot left, really hope Underwood gets Heirman or Gates.

I'm seeing that Biggs will be stepping into a support staff role, not as an assistant.

Can't wait for them to be decent for one year then fall off the map again (ala LSU)

That's the exact comparison I would make as well. Cuonzo is all set to underperform. I'm not sure a one and done is what Mizzou needs right now with a serial underperformer at the helm.

Yes they'd be much better off turning away the number one recruit in the country WHO GREW UP COLUMBIA MISSOURI.

Ben Simmons wasn't bad for LSU. Jonny Jones was. No reason why Antonio Blakeney and others couldn't pull that team up, he was just a bad coach. You can say Cuonzo's teams have bad ruts, but he's not Jones for godsake

Full disclosure: I don't care about Mizzou. The Illinois/Mizzou rivalry is entirely manufactured and not real. I'm just not enamored with that one year and done five star guy for a struggling program like Mizzou.

Porter is apparently recruiting hard for Mizzou, specifically Kevin Knox.

Crazy how it turned around over night.

With Knox and Porter and some of the decent players Mizzou has now, I'd expect MU to make the tournament next year. No reason Cuonzo can't get that team in the tourney. I haven't checked MU's noncon schedule. Porter and Knox are 2/5s of a starting lineup. Pretty impressive start for Cuonzo, if MU gets Knox.

Knox seems like a long shot, have you heard more?

Know, just saw on zagsblog he was to visit Mizzou. If he thinks he's a one and done it'd be a nice 1-2 one and done punch with Porter and Knox to go with a couple pretty good MU players.
