The move from CF is obviously having a massive positive effect on his defense, and I'm happy Hahn was smart enough to bring in Jackson who, while he needs to start hitting more, has really alleviated the pressure on Eaton on Cabrera to make plays. It's very strange, bar 2015, there's been a huge disparity between DRS and UZR when it comes to Eaton. 2013 Eaton: DRS: -2 UZR: -10 2014 Eaton: DRS: +12 UZR: -3 2015 Eaton: DRS: -14 UZR: -11 2016 Eaton: DRS: +5 UZR: -0.3 I'd be inclined to trust DRS a bit more as it has better batted ball data, and the eye test on Eaton this year would say he's been really good defensively. I have no data to back me up, but I'd be willing to guess if you took away April last year, Eaton was more than adequate in CF. he just started the season in a slump in all facets. I think he's a pretty good CF, I agree with you that people blew his first month of the season last year out of proportion. I think the problem last year was the defense in the corners. He's made at least one bona fide mistake, though that may have been after the post was made, I can't remember. Plenty of time for things to even out anyway. One thing about Eaton that has stood out for me so far is that his arm looks terrible. I don't necessarily mean in terms of strength, but it just looks incredibly unlikely that he would throw anyone out given the chance due to how inaccurate most of his throws have been. Jackson for his part has been more accurate at least in terms of the alignment, but both of them have been just chucking it straight into the ground.
