Guest Ncorgbl
:alien After the first two games, I figure 'El Goo' to mail this one in. He may have tried drinking out of Loaiza's used gatorade cups to catch the flu, and throwup :puke on his way to the mound in an attempt to get out of it tonight. Wright comes in during the 2nd inning, throws shutout ball the rest of the way, and the Sox win the first of 11 in a row. But that's just me. Steff
About damn time!! Hopefully this one has the same effect the other 2 did. By the way Corg.. you know Finny, right?
sox-r-us
LOL What is really pathetic is that we will score probably 5-8 runs tonight when we will not need it as Colon will give up 1 or 2 If only those runs had come in the first two games. Baseball can be cruel.....but we have only ourselves to blame. Hopefully, the Tigers will make things even by finally beating the twinkies the way they have beaten us all year
southsider2k5
I get the feeling we are getting swept tonight. Thing is even if Colon mails it in, you can look at the offense mailing it in for the last week (7 runs in 21 games without an ace pitcher in the bunch) and need no further reason to see why this is over. When you look at the mail in job that guys like Thomas (.192 in September) and Konerko (2-18) have done, it makes what Colon does tonight pointless. elrockinMT
I don't know how to call this game tonight. I do think Colon will pitch well and maybe only give up a run or two, but with the offense sputtering like it is we might not score at all wasting a Colon gem. Then again they might dig deep and fight back finally and score 10 runs in one game.
winninguglyin83
it's four straight games Twinkie pitching has stopped the sox. No long ball, no runs. It's evident to anybody who watches, but evidently they're watching a different game in the dugout. So they swing from the heels -- and pop out, while getting their asses kicked by Ryan, Rivas and the other hall of famers in the Minnesota lineup. And the walk differential in this series --1 by sox hitters, 13 by the Twins -- is one of the first things the NEW MANAGER will talk about in spring training. What will Bartolo do? Does it really matter?
Steff
What will Bartolo do? Does it really matter? Frank, Mags, and Lee are hitting .180 something against the Twins. Unless they do something, I think Bart's effort will be for nothing.

Unless they do something, I think Bart's effort will be for nothing. Yeah of all the people to be called out, we need about 7 or 8 other players to be called out, long before Colon. This series would have been meaningless before we even stepped out on the field if Bartolo hadn't been answering the call for a month now, that the rest of this heartless team missed. How come no "clutch or Tub of Goo" threads for Thomas, Konkero, Ordonez, Valentin, Olivo, Alomar, or the rest of them? They have killed this team, not Colon. As for this thread the term "one hit (post) wonder" comes to mind...

Makes no difference who shows up, the Heartless Wonders will be there to go three and out. I advocate an off season house cleaning as this team and its psyche are finished. 11-0 though nice would be pointless as they will b**** and moan that they ran out of gas at the end of the season to perform in the playoffs. You know the same old s*** about having to play hard. Lazy f***s, all of them. If the Valentin v. J.C. Romero at-bat wasn't enough to make you sick nothing will. 2-0 swing at a ball in the dirt and then fake a bunt at a fastball down the middle. Geez. Queen Prawn
I couldn't watch after that first inning - that ump was absolutely atrocious. He was watching the Twinks dance in the box rather than the pitches. Did the ump improve at all or did Colon give up and start groovin' them down the heart of the plate? The one who asks, or the one who forgot all those losses. It's been a while, but I'd show up and give all I've got from the start. You can't say that about 'El Goo'. Sheesh At 15-8 would we be depressed tonight? It's not just Colon, he's not the only one who failed, they did it as a team. However, most of the rest really tried and failed, GooBoy didn't. Sure he had a few good games, the last one the best, but most he didn't show up until later in the game if at all. Tonight he was staked to a lead and couldn't hold. Not for lack of effort this time, he flat got beat. I don't fault that, teams and players get beat. But at your 15-8 we would've had 1 more win for certain, and of those 5 losses lets say 2 could've been wins. We'd be .5 back after tonight's disaster. LOL and still done.........................like it matters. IF Mb didnt start 2-10 we might have won division. IF we had a decent manager, IF we good learn to bunt, IF we could advance runners, IF we could not swing for the fences on every pitch, IF we had any team speed, IF, IF , IF...................the sad and most pathetic thing of all about this season is we had virtually no injuries and we STILL couldnt win a pathetic division. Colon is the least of the problem.

Guest Ncorgbl
Mark started 2-10 and no one called him anything... Just more BS. As you said Colon was the least of our Problems. Maybe we sould have brought back Todd Ritchie insted of Colon. Maybe not on this site, but on MLB Mark was called quite afew things, particularly with the contract that was never offerred was reported turned down. Few over there gave him a break at all. Again, this season's results are a team effort. Other than one hot stretch after the break no one did anything. Had Maggs not hit over .600 for a few weeks he might not be our only .300 hitter. Thomas, who I'll defend to the death is hitting at least 45 points under where I thought he should be, and 4 less home runs now as his season has progressed. Buehrle as mentioned, and Garland, improved, but should've been more. Valentin's 'D' is great but his bat has left him, and Konerko has had about 1 1/2 months of hitting, and nothing the rest. But they tried. Anyone watching saw they tried, and tried hard, maybe too hard, maybe they tried so hard they played beyond themselves, as I think Frank does, and failed. For that effort I cheer them, even in failure. Colon has not tried that way in all his games. Sure, before last night he had a stellar 12 innings, but other than that the effort was only there when the 'cruise control' had him late in a game and set for a complete game. How many leads was he staked to, admittedly one or two runs, that he gave up immediately in the next half inning? How in the world can anyone not see a guy come here after a 20 win season, all the hype, all the reputation, all the swagger, all the 'who I am' and be happy with what he has done here? I didn't bill him as an 'Ace'. I didn't call him a 'horse'. I didn't say he got stronger as the game went on, and I didn't say he's worth $12+ million, or one of the elite AL pitchers. He's not. I said he's a 'Tub O' Goo', and he is.
