LDF
as a help i would be happy with any of these players. Bill Haselman, John Flaherty and i think the price is good. they can be a very teacher for olivio
Chisoxfn
We'll likely pick one of the vetarans up for around 500 k. I'd love to bring Alomar back, but my backup guy would be Kreuter and then Flaherty.
toasty
i havent paid much attention but did alomar have any health problems after the trade?
Guest hotsoxchick1
none different than he already had.....he did have a spell with the thin air there in colorado but it was due to flu......other than that hes ok.........
Chisoxfn
If we pick up Alomar or any of the other aging backstops we still need to keep Paul as a backup plan in case Olivo stinks up the joint or one of hte backups gets hurt(Likely at least one of our catchers gets injured at some point)
WSFAN35
I like Flaherty more than Krueter... I don't know if Alomar would be a good choice to be back, cause he might be bitter, and he will definately cost more than Flaherty or Krueter
witesoxfan
Detroit is I believe the only team that has showed interest in Alomar, aside from us....and we basically said if no one shows interest in you, we'll sign you. If he doesn't sign with Detroit, I'd be expecting to see Alomar in a White Sox uniform next year.
Chisoxfn
Well, if I were him I'd much rather come to Chicago then Detroit. They stink. Plus, he ain't going to be starting their either. How much more money would the Tigers offer, like 250 k? Alomar should have enough money where he could come back to the Sox, for like 500k to 750k. This guy was liked a lot by our pitching staff, and I don't think he has any hard feelings to us moving him.
doubleM23
Anyone is an upgrade over Josh Paul.
Chisoxfn
Todd Pratt just signed a minor league deal with the Phillies. Thats one guy I wouldn't of mind. Theirs still plenty of others out their. Its starting to look to me like KW will wait and then sign them to a minor league deal, keeping one on the 40 man roster (we now have 2 slots open)

I'd take him for $500,000-$1 million....that's about the price range it would take. Not only that, but he is a good bat when healthy, along with a good arm and defense...the only thing I'm worried about are his knees and how much they slow him up. Chisoxfn
I wasn't saying offer him that, I was saying how much more could the Tigers offer, as in how much more would they offer compared to what the Sox would be willing to pay (Like 250 K?) Maybe the Tigers offer him a mill, the Sox offer him 750.
witesoxfan
Ohhhhhh....NOW I see what you're saying. I personally don't know which job offer loooks more attractive...it basically depends on what he wants to do. If he wants to help a young staff and a young catcher or two, then Detroit is the place to go....if he wants to help a young catcher and maybe a couple young pitchers and possibly win while getting less money, than Chicago is the place to go. I don't know...it's up to him.
