southsider2k5
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) There was no way in hell they were getting any outs there if he just avoids that ball. There was nothing routine about that play. With out the guy in the way, it is a grounder to second. Lawrie makes that play.
mmmmmbeeer
What a fantastic win. This team, unlike anything we've since '06, has an identity and some swag. It's wins like these that are going to make the league start to pay attention to the Sox and begin to take them seriously. This isn't a fluke start, boys. chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) It looked to me like he slowed down as the ball was coming intentionally to get into the way. I'd have to see it again to be sure. tough to really say even in slow mo imo. He might have thought it was going into right center field off that hard turf if he just avoided it. As is, I'll take it. Club is making their own luck. Edited April 26, 2016 by chitownsportsfan

chitownsportsfan
Pretty good overall game from Avi. He just seems to get too anxious with RISP. His best at bats seem to come when he leads off an inning and relaxes some. But if he can go 1/4 with a BB or 2/4 with a double more often than not nobody will complain. Needs to keep it up. Albers has been amazing . What a great asset to have in the bullpen. This team has something special about it.
chitownsportsfan
Albers is the quickest fat guy since Robert "Tractor" Trailer. Hey, if you can't be svelte, at least be quick and good at hurling a baseball. Jose has the best smiles when he does something a bit athletic. Glad to see the big man part of a winning club he'll come around soon. I'm not sure Lawrie makes that play without a barehand peg and throw on that chopper that ended it. Certainly would have been bang bang. I'll take the automatic out. Edited April 26, 2016 by chitownsportsfan
chw42
Wow I kind of gave up on this game after it was 5-1. Offense was a pleasant surprise.
BaconOnAStick
I went out and ran for 30 minutes after Gonzalez really let the floodgates open. Glad I put the game back on.
Boopa1219
Was that an early statement win? And I think that Abreu is starting to put it together. Edited April 26, 2016 by Joshua Strong

Rowand44
Our offense just saves all of the run scoring for when our top 4 starters aren't on the mound. It's great strategy.
chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) Bartolo used to actually be a hell of an athlete too. Uribe in his prime (and by that I mean when he was still young and "only" 20lbs overweight) was also a very good athlete. He had an absolute cannon for an arm. So many times he'd lazily backhand a ball in the hole and then just rifle a ball to get the guy by a step. Fun guy to watch for a few years. Bigsoxhurt35
Missed this game because it didn't record. f***! But love the win! Seen the bases loaded situation though. This team is crazy! Love them
Vance Law
Are they sending Kevan Smith back down? Kinda need a 2nd catcher.
chitownsportsfan
alright I just watched the replay a couple times of the Tulo interference and yea he fugged up. Whatever his initial reaction was, it was wrong. I don't think they had any shot at 1B, Saunders was busting down and had the advantage of starting in the lefty box. Lip Man 1
Now THAT was impressive. Getting those two out hits was huge. My goodness even Garcia got two hits! Loved the fact they nailed the game winner off Floyd. Guess Gonzales isn't the answer so the Sox need to keep looking for a fifth starter. Third time this year the Sox have won a game when trailing in the 7th inning or later. That's your stat of the night. Mark
bmags
I'm not ready to write off Gonzalez. Will be interesting in July if we can truly stack our team with a fifth starter

chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) I'm not ready to write off Gonzalez. Will be interesting in July if we can truly stack our team with a fifth starter Just need to try and minimize the 5th starter spots, as obvious as it seems. A "rotating 5th" might not be the worst idea until late June when the trade market gets a bit clearer.
