RockRaines
Feel bad for smith. He was raking in the minors, got a chance to come up and start and his back goes out.
southsider2k5
I have quite literally never heard that phrase before. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 10m10 minutes ago Kevan Smith goes on DL w/ "sacroiliac joint dysfunction." Was reported he had back spasms in warm ups Mon before was set to make MLB debut. That is the SI joint I believe. I had that a few years ago. I had both sides locked up. At first I couldn't stand up. I walked into the chiropractor with my hands on my knees. He made it so I could stand, but there would be times I literally couldn't step forward. Some electric stim and heat and exercises, and a couple of adjustments, he should be good to go, but it will take a little while. I got it from the elliptical machine. Had to stop that. It kills your back. Edited April 26, 2016 by Dick Allen
Bigsoxhurt35
That stinks. Tough luck for Smith and our catching position, however it does give Hector a chance.

NorthSideSox72
Also, this triggered the biggest wave of minor league roster moves I think I've ever seen in one day in-season... C Kevan Smith to the DL C Hector Sanchez to Chicago C Omar Narvaez to Charlotte C Chris O'Dowd to Birmingham C Sean O'Connell to Winston-Salem C Daniel Gonzalez to Kannapolis INF Danny Mendick to Winston-Salem INF Cleuluis Rondon to Kannapolis OF Louis Silverio to Winston-Salem OF Michael Danner released INF Dante Flores to Kannapolis So now, Sox fans, your next catcher up is Omar Narvaez - prospect profile here. He's barely played above A+.

chitownsportsfan
Anybody that follows prospects: does anyone have any good catching prospects in their system? Doesn't seem like anyone really has more than one halfway decent catcher, prospect or otherwise. I saw that this is a deep draft for catchers. Probably would behoove the Sox to invest in one or two. I am not an expert on other systems, but from what I've seen, catching talent is very hard to come by. And the Sox have some by the way - it's just that all the ones who look like they have at least reasonably possible starter ceilings are in Low A or rookie ball / Ext ST. That means a solid 3 years away, or more, when you are talking about catchers (they rarely move quickly).
ptatc
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Feel awful for Smith. Calling ptatc! This will be a tough one for him. The stress these joints are under while in the catching crouch is tremendous. The joints are under the most stress when doing single leg activities so trying to shift from side to side while the trunk is flexed is tough. Hopefully , it just some inflamation and in a week to 10 days it will calm down. If there is an actual shift it could be longer. Tough break for him. LittleHurt05
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) I feel bad for Smith. You never know if it is your one and only shot at the bigs and this happens When he does get healthy, they should figure out a way to let him make one MLB appearance, at least in September during roster expansion . That would be so brutal if he never played in a MLB game, especially since he was already in the lineup.
gosoxgo2005
Assuming he gets a start or two, all I care about is how he receives, blocks, throws, and commands the game. Anyone have any info on him? edit: talking about Sanchez, not Smith Edited April 27, 2016 by gosoxgo2005
