First off, if the White Sox even thought about Anderson or Adams or Fulmer for Burns, they would be insane.

Amen!

The Rays. The A's. Etc. Reddick actually might be a possibility, I just hope the Sox don't do it. I don't want a rental player where you have to give up that much.

The rules make it difficult because if the As trade him, they essentially lose a draft choice (they'd assuredly QO him). And what you'd have to pay to compensate the As for that lost draft choice plus his 2 month value wouldn't be worth it. There really can't be a market equilibrium, unless a team overpays, which, of course the Sox....

Why would the Astros want Tim Anderson?

They have the best young SS in baseball in Correa. To move Correa to 3B?

At any rate, they're definitely not trading an established and successful big league hitter for someone who hasn't had the chance to prove himself at the next level.

Sox looking for pitching. Both starters and relievers.

Go get Julio Teheran & Arodys Vizcaino from the braves; we would likely have to give up Fulmer++

Teheran is only 25 and here is his following contract: 2017: $6.3M, 2018: $8M, 2019: $11M 2020 Option: $12M $1M buy out

Vizcaino is ARB eligible starting next year. fits with the core and the timeline.

Vizcaino can bring it.

Has a Top 10 average velocity for MLB relievers and would fit with Nate Jones quite well in the set-up role.

Right now, we have a huge issue with Duke scuffling and Albers falling back to reality. There's no clear 7th inning guy.

But is Hahn willing to trade Fulmer this early? And add a much more expensive starting pitcher in Teheran when he was projected the much more affordable Carson in the rotation at some point next year.

I believe so, Hahn had the following to say recently: “It would be too good of an opportunity to squander to not try to do everything in our power to put the club in a position where Chris Sale, [Jose] Quintana, [Carlos] Rodon and others get to perform on the biggest stage in October,”.

With the draft coming up quickly and the ability to replace Fulmer with another high pick and replenish what we would likely need to give up to get a young cost controlled #3 and a 7th/8th inning set up man. to push Albers and Duke back further.

Additionally after this year the sox payroll is sitting at 73.5M before ARB next year with a few pieces to fill in; namely 5th starter, C and CF provided Avi is for real.

Outside of 5th starter/bullpen I'd like the sox to target Chris Herrmann & Andres Blanco from the d-backs and phillies if they fall out of it, great pieces that crush righties that would be a welcome addition to the bench. Blanco is an older utility man and Herrman is a corner outfielder 3rd string catcher.

I still say the perfect candidate is sitting in Minnesota in Ervin Santana. Offer up a guy like Beck and Leury Garcia, who seems to be a typical Twin-type player but has no real future with the Sox because of Saladino and Sanchez, and that should be plenty. It may not even cost that much. Slide Santana into the #3 or 4 spot and the rotation is again very solid.

Does that make the Twins any better? Not sure. Aren't they are looking to build.

at the same time, Santana is on a 4/55M contract that runs through 2019, and I dont really see how he really helps them build considering he is an older pitcher with a large contract(relatively large for Minnesota)

That's a pretty considerable investment for the White Sox to take on...for a far from certain "fix." If they had $25-30 million cushion to play with over the remainder of the season, sure, no problem.

But they also have to figure out ways to add a reliever and at some point probably another hitter (preferably LH).

There are probably enough red flags with Santana that would cross him off their list.

In all likelihood, the Twins would look to deal Nolasco first, then Hughes or Santana. Until all their young pitching prospects are ready, they don't HAVE to do anything. So far, the results from Meyer and Trevor May (moved to bullpen) have been disappointing, Gibson's hurt, their fans are not going to stand for a rebuild again because they've been patiently waiting since 2010 for another playoff contender. Many were fooled last year by their performance, but the fans there are 10X more upset with the Pohlad Family than the level of discontent with JR around here. They didn't do anything in the offseason, except for adding Park (pleasant surprise)...it was quite obvious their bullpen needed to be patched up, and that's playing out this season with disastrous results. Buxton wasn't ready and might never hit better than Cameron Maybin. Sano was forced into the outfield when they should have traded Plouffe at his highest value (Dozier has been a big disappointment as well). They're sitting on another bad contract with their closer. I won't get started on the fanbase feelings towards Joe Mauer.

Kemp's definitely on the market, along with Wil Myers...that dude is one of the streakiest hitters alive, other than Justin Upton.

We'll see if JR/KW have the cojones to add that kind of contract. And it still doesn't solve the LH hitter issue/imbalance. Not to mention the fact that Matt Kemp is great to have on a winning ballclub when he's assured of playing time, but not the best presence when everything's going south or he's not getting the attention or credit he feels that he deserves.

Not sure how he would respond taking him away from the Southern California lifestyle he's so accustomed to. Seems like it would work out great or be a total disaster.

The #Padres may have nice trade chip this summer in OF Matt Kemp, who has 10 homers and 29 RBI, and is being made available.

I wonder what they could realistically get in return if a team wanted to take on the full salary to pay less in talent-wise.

What would this package cost from Milwaukee: RHP Jimmy Nelson, RHP Will Smith, and 1B Chris Carter?

It would start with the one, the only - Carlos Quinten.

Look. It's obvious we have a problem at catcher. Avila is horrible; Navarro is OK as a backup. So fix the problem now. We have a pretty decent team, but obviously it can win nothing without better catching. So trade a nobody for AJP. Release Avila and let AJ and Navarro catch/hit. If you don't want AJP, then target another team's backup, somebody who can hit .240 for gawdsakes and catch a halfway decent game. At the very least, quit playing Avila and catch Navarro til he runs out of gas. He should be catching 6 of 7 games a week.

Catcher must improve or Sox are going nowhere.

Have Coop work work work with Rodon. He must turn into a stellar No. 3. Have Coop work work work with Latos! He must be an average No. 4. Get rid of that current guy who is at No. 5 starter. Give Johnson one more start. Have a revolving door at 5; do something.

Start playing Saladino way more than Rollins. If Saladino sucks, fine. Rollins is done, finished, kaput. If Anderson is ready, bring him up to split time with Saladino. But get rid of Rollins now. Finally, find room for Matt Davidson, even at DH splitting time with Avi there. Davidson is ready folks. Seven homers, 24 RBI, hitting .250.

If there were any easy answers at catcher, they would have been utilized. They might have missed on Saltalamacchia, but there just weren't many options on the trade market. Kevan Smith isn't going to be the answer with "on the job" training for a first place team.

Erik Johnson doesn't have the faith/belief/trust of the organization. They trust Gonzalez's track record in the big leagues more than any potential that Johnson might have, and Gonzalez has done his job, more or less, keeping them in every game he's started. Same thing with Latos, who is/was a huge bargain for that price tag no matter what happens from here on out.

Winning organizations don't release guys like Jimmy Rollins (especially when he's been one of your new leaders) and panic when the team's 2 1/2 games out in first with Chris Sale going tmrw. Saladino's unlikely to be a big league regular. Anderson needs more seasoning, if we've learned nothing from the trail that starts with Joe Borchard, Brian Anderson, Gordon Beckham, Marcus Semien and many others, it's that you have to be patient with your young players...it's just not the right situation to throw him into right now. Maybe, just maybe...in July or August. One thing we know, though, is that advanced scouts for other teams will pick apart his every weakness and expose it. The key will be making adjustments.

It's hard to be patient. There are only 3 other teams in the majors that have gone longer than 7 years since their last playoff appearance. 5 of those 7 years have been bad/terrible/forgettable ones.

Davidson isn't coming within 1000 miles of this roster. If anything's going to happen, it will be adding a LH bat for outfield/DH.

They're definitely not bringing back AJ Pierzynski.

In other words, no to all of these moves...for now. First place teams can't afford to panic, or the season's already lost. There's too much veteran talent in that clubhouse and Chris Sale's smelling his first Cy Young. They should be able to keep it together, or Ventura will be shown the door.
