bmags
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) Quintana has a 1.49 ERA over his last 10 starts with 61 Ks and 15 BB over 66.2 innings. Awesome. Decent 3-4 starter
greg775
Nice to see Q win again. What a month of April. Almost perfect, really. You can't expect a much better performance out of the gate than this. Glad the Sox won 3 of 4 to open in warm Oakland. They haven't looked back. Keep it up. Like my friend said, the Robin haters have shut their mouths. This team is amazing. WhiteSoxfan1986
Good to see a couple of more good defensive plays from Adam Eaton. His defense in right has been real impressive.
chitownsportsfan
So remember when Gibbons just decided to pretend he didn't have a bullpen and just left an obviously tired/hurt Estrada in to get to 118 pitches? Here's his SP postgame: “It didn’t feel very good," Estrada said of his shoulder post-game. "But, you know, I don’t want to talk about it.” https://twitter.com/SNBarryDavis/status/725477007652323332 … For all the s*** I give RV, he's never done something 1/2 as stupid and "I'm trying to get fired" as that BS. Way to protect your players, moron. Edited April 28, 2016 by chitownsportsfan

winninguglyin83
First time they've had 5 shutouts in first 22 games since 1973. That team had 6 -- and also started 16-6. Three starts by Wilbur Wood, two by Eddie Fisher and one by Stan Bahnsen. I won't say any more about how that team finished.

I'd have fired gibbons the second the game ended. He left him in for like 3 innings after Estrada started showing discomfort then compounded it by extending him for the longest outing of his career. One of the worst cases of manager negligence I can remember. Pretty much all media covering the game were talking about it in the 4th inning, it was pretty clear Estrada was injured. You don't f*** around with shoulders, that's how you end careers.

Lip Man 1
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) First time they've had 5 shutouts in first 22 games since 1973. That team had 6 -- and also started 16-6. Three starts by Wilbur Wood, two by Eddie Fisher and one by Stan Bahnsen. I won't say any more about how that team finished. There were two reasons it all fell apart: 1. Injuries. The Sox used the DL that season 38 times. After Ken Henderson tore up his knee on May 25 it was all downhill from there. Almost everybody got hurt...Allen, Melton, May. 2. Stu Holcomb. The Sox VP ordered player personnel director (at that time) Roland Hemond to release...not try to trade, nor negotiate with but RELEASE any player who did not take the Sox contract offer. They lost, for nothing, guys like Rick Reichardt, Ed Spezio, Mike Andrews and Jay Johnstone. When Holcomb ordered Hemond to release 21 game winner Stan Banhsen, Hemond and Chuck Tanner went to owner John Allyn and basically said, "its him or us." Allyn flew to Boston where the Sox were playing and "reassigned" Holcomb but the damage was done. After all the injuries the Sox had no one of quality left and were forced to use guys like Chuck Brickman, John "the Jet" Jeter, Rich Morales and their ilk. Just dumb and stupid. I've interviewed Roland and Chuck (before he passed) I can provide the links if you wish but it was not a pleasant situation. April has brought me more joy out of the Sox than the previous 2 seasons combined. Keep it up boys!!!
Lip Man 1
Sox team ERA after 22 games is the lowest since the "Near Miss" 1967 White Sox who had the World Series dead in their sights against the Cardinals until that final week when they played the Kansas City A's and Washington Senators. He's the last want guy I'd want managing Marcus Stroman, aside from maybe Dusty. Dusty gets a bad rap. He's an excellent manager. Tough on his guys, but a good manager. Prior and Wood's arms would have fallen off no matter the manager, imo. What Gibbons did tonight though, awful.

Damn, even MLB players don't have respect for Quintana. Sale wasn't even throwing that hard against them last night, just some sick sliders and change, Ace stuff. Quintana straight overpowered them tonight and he isn't even a power pitcher. He just challenged them and hit his spots, they don't need to change their approach, they just need to face a pitcher who isn't saying "f*** you" with every pitch. Terrific performance from Q tonight!
