If Miguel Gonzalez has a couple good starts in AAA while Danks has a couple more bad starts, that probably would be it.

It would be nice if Buehrlle was secretly getting in shape and wanted to come back, but I highly doubt it.

Couple more bad starts? I'll pass he's done

They really can't run Danks out there again after this.

I really doubt we ever see him again. Turner is getting a couple million and pitching well. He's next.

You know who I really wanted the Sox to get this offseason? AJ Griffin. He signed a minor league contract with the Rangers.

Either way. The way I look at it this #4/5 spot is going to be huge all year. Let's be honest, Latos has some stats that show he is going to have a regression. Yes he's been great, I just don't expect it to continue all year. And Danks is hot garbage.

So what are the realistic options?

In order:

Johnson

Gonzalez

Turner

Fulmer

Trade?

Out of all those names the only one who I think I'd have confidence in over Danks is Johnson.

Turner walked a bunch last night.

Maybe I'm being easy on Danks because the team is 16-6. Let's just say be careful what you wish for.

People jump ship to quick. Danks may not be doing good but that doesn't mean the Sox can't rally

Literally no one in this thread said this game is over. Just that it will be if Danks isn't pulled.

With the day off on Monday, by my very quick math we'd need the #5 to start Saturday May 7th. And then could probably fudge around until about the third week in May...

Now, that's not ideal. I'd rather not work our pitchers that heavily cause of a Danks. But I think pushing back Danks to Baltimore was probably a plan because of the Monday off game where they could skip him.

Either way, we know its a problem. Let's fix it.

It's really, really hard to be worse than this version of John Danks.

Great comment. I am betting they stuck with Danks until at least the end of June. Maybe he can be the long relief guy if he can't get squared away

We're not stuck with anyone. If we have to watch the #5 struggle I want it to be with a young guy who might have a future with the team. Not a soon to be FA who is out of baseball next year.

I feel like I was willing to give Danks as much rope as anyone but it's time to move on now. I still think EJ can be an ok 5th starter but the Sox definitely don't think that's the case so I have no clue what the best option is.

my comment should have read that they will STICK with Danks not that we are STUCK with him. But. Comments from Ventura and Cooper tomorrow will be interesting

I have always liked Danks. I remember when he was good and probably let loyalty cloud things just a bit. I feel sport for Danks as I know no one wants to be good out there for the team more than he does
