It's just frustrating. These are the types of series that could separate the Sox from the rest of the division in the standings and yet they always seem to lose them.

You say that like Baltimore is a bad team and we should be clobbering them

This team desperately needs a day off.

They swept Texas and Toronto and can still split this series.

Tough game, f*** it. The Sox have Latos and Sale pitching the next two games so I like the Sox chances of leaving Baltimore with a four game split making them 5-2 on the road trip. I'll happily take 5-2. :)

Even good teams have bad games, it happens.

Baltimore is an unreal 9-1 at home so far this year.

Have to win at least one of the next two.

Questionable decision to leave Rodon in there, but those are the types of situations a good pitcher has to fight through, especially when his pitch count was still around 95.

Not sure again about leaving him in after the double, but it's his runner in Ventura's mind, he has to pitch his way out of it and it's too late to use Albers there.

Some improved hitting from Abreu, an impressive homer from Lawrie on a high fastball along with Eaton's throw home to get Rickard were the highlights.

The pitching steps back a little bit, and the dugout braintrust reveals their true selves.

And as Cooper/Ventura have done for 3 seasons, a starter stays in until he pitches the Sox out of the game, as long as the pitch count doesn't get too excessive.

Is Robin reverting back to his "normal" ways?..inquiring minds want to know. You've got a solid bullpen...use them.

Expected this with Danks opening the series, it's ****ing Baltimore don't you know, they've been doing it for years.

And the Sox got shut down by another mediocre / garbage pitcher. Maybe things haven't changed as much as we thought.

Baltimore...the new Minnesota or is it the new Oakland?

Watched some highlights...was Rodon's velocity down? Reimold homered on a 90 mph fastball

No. He was throwing some fastballs at 94. He's definitely backed off on overthrowing the fastball this year in favor of gaining some control. Seems a lot of that has to do with Cooper and Sale (although Sale goes through some starts where every FB is 95-98, others where he lets up off the gas and ranges from 90-96 depending upon the opponent).

That isn't my point - the Sox could've and should've won this game, but shoddy defense and poor hitting prevented them from doing so.

Don't get me wrong, Baltimore is a good team (especially at home), but this was a winnable game that the Sox didn't take advantage of.

I don't know that it's a reversion...the starters have been so good, they didn't need to be pulled. But yes, this is the way Cooper/Ventura manage.

tough start for Rodon. He still doesn't have his control. More time in AAA last year (when the ML team was going nowhere) might have helped because he didn't have his control in AAA either. And it's not like Cooper has been doing much "fixing" in the last several years.

Well, Cooper has to get SOME credit for Latos (he's already arguably earned his $3 million) and the rest of the pitching staff, other than Danks, who Leo Mazzone in his prime couldn't have done much with...Quintana has clearly taken a step forward this season as well.

Rodon, as PTAC mentioned over and over again, is always going to have intermittent issues with his control because of his delivery/mechanics.

Sox players seem to be dropping like flies since last Saturday. Nothing major but it's becoming a factor since there's really nothing in the minor leagues position player wise who can come in and be worth a damn.

Rollins defense cost them that game. He has zero range.

If they want him playing he should DH.

Range had nothing to do with his error. He can still handle his position quite well.
