BigHurt3515
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 4, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) Very disappointing night. To only get three hits off a struggling pitcher with an astronomical ERA (almost John Danks like)...very disappointing. Rodon needs to get his act together, Sox can't afford to have two holes out of five in the starting rotation. Was hoping for a win tonight to take the series...don't have a lot of faith with a fifth starter going Thursday that the Sox can win the game. And Zach Duke appears to be regressing into the Zach Duke we saw for most of last year. Mark Rodon really wasn't that bad. 3 ER in 6 IP, he is producing 4/5 starter numbers right now and that is okay with Sale-Quintana-Latos pitching so well. I think Rodon will get stronger as the year goes on, he is still very young Edited May 5, 2016 by BigHurt3515
reiks12
Rodon got pretty unlucky with some of those hits The blame is on the O tonight, 3 hits against Buchholz isn't good

I think Rodon will get stronger as the year goes on, he is still very young Latos also scares me. Which is why Rodon who has an extremely bright future, needs to get his act together. He is getting stung by the 'one bad inning' situation that hampered Garland for so many years and let's not even bring up Javy Vazquez. BaconOnAStick
This is the kind of loss that teams are just going to have. Just like the Weaver loss there are times when you think the Sox have the advantage on paper but the opposing pitcher either has the Sox number, the Sox aren't scoring, or the Sox starter wont pitch well enough to win. This game was a bit of all three, oh well. The Sox have still gone 9-3 against an absolutely brutal run of very good opponents. --But dont call Rodon "unlucky." That's a load of crap, he lost control of his pitches for long stretches and that hanger he left up to Ortiz that got crushed was anything but unlucky. If Rodon wants to start games in the postseason he has to improve, the Sox gave him an early lead and he just could not make the pitches he needed to make to preserve it. ronkark
I know we can't win em all. I know. But Clay Bucholz shuts them down? I mean the O was a giant tird after the first inning And Rodon. I know he's young and we've seen good things. but COMMAND. Where does it go sometime? and the most troubling part is the next two pitchers are Latos and Johnson. we needed this one.
