Boopa1219
I am about to direct a short film that is based on a short story (flash fiction: a story under 1000 words) that I wrote, called Happy Anniversary (for now, I might change it to Let's Stay Together). The story is a play on suburban life and it is about a couple who decided that they are fed up with lives and make true on their wedding vows. It's pretty jarring and disturbing and the short film is going to be mix of David Lynch and David Fincher. Lots of stationary camera work and just overall weird. But I need a song that plays during the last scene, which is pretty jarring. Here is the story, so you can see what I am talking about. I trust everyone (well mostly everyone here) to not steal my work, but both my story and script are copyrighted. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY © BY: JOSHUA STRONG I completely forgotten what day it was but leave it to Melanie to always remind me. She just came back from the kid's’ room after putting them to sleep. Despite how things got between us she was always up for adventure and full of surprises. “Honey, can you pass me the remote.” Melanie opened up the locked cabinet, sat down on the couch and instead of our old, deprecit remote she put a cold pistol in my hand instead. When I finally looked at what she gave me and after my initial shock passed, I sat there on our couch wondering where all the time had gone. It wasn't too long ago that we were young and had the whole world in front of us. How could I forget that today was our anniversary. When I looked up, I saw that Melanie also had a gun but her’s was pressed firmly against her temple. She a had big childlike grin on her face, I’d never seen her smile like this before, it’s been years since I’ve seen her this happy. I knew what she wanted me to do and I didn’t hesitate, so I put my gun against my temple and looked right into Melanie’s eyes. With the exception of the babies crying in their cribs, it was like we were alone in the world. Like nothing else mattered but the two of us and tonight we were finally going to make true on our vows. “Happy anniversary, I love you.” “I love you too.” How could I forget what day it was. Imagine this playing out in your head, what song is the couple listening to? I am looking for a song that is older and preferably, something that is not a ballad. I want to contrast the heaviness of the scene with a song that's kinda upbeat. Some of the songs that I am considering are: Let's Stay Together, I Think We're Alone Now (The Original Version), Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen), and Downtown (Petula Clark). Any suggestions are welcome and I might do something cool in the credits for the people that helped. Thanks, Joshua

bmags
Duh, Walk of Life works with basically any scene.
Soxbadger
I would use NIN "Hurt" but the Johnny Cash version. But if you want something upbeat "let's go crazy" prince. Its hard cause I am not sure what you want your piece to say.
