RudyLawRules
Small ball will win the division in 2004. I mean sheesh, how many friggin' infield foul ball outs were there this series? As much as I hate the Twinkees, they do it the right way. I think Backman is a Gardenhire clone. We shall see...
SnB
agreed. we also need to keep the people that can partly do things like that. Robbie, willie, ........
greg775
Hope Wally is the savior. Robbie yes; Willie no. Willie cannot hit. Robbie can hit .250.

winninguglyin83
Wally has one key qualification that Bobby V., leyland and others don't have he won't cost much. JR will go for that.

JoshPR
Can't play small ball with a slow team. Backman would even let Konerko steal. I think we sould dump Konerko. If the FA is avalible and Robbie walks I think Luis Castillo would be a good fit. I would also like Derrek Lee. A SLICK FIELDING Firstbaseman with power and wheels. Throw in Miles and Reed and we're in business! BTW, I wonder if Reed will be fast tracked? I'd say depending on what this team is composed of were gonna see a lot of reed. I don't think Borchard sticks in the organization any longer and Reed/Rowand will be fighting for center (just my opinion). Then there is the possibility that Maggs gets dealt as the team sheds payroll. If thats the case you trade him for no less then Xavier Nady, Jake Peavy, and Khalil Greene as well as another prospect (They don't give you Greene, you get Gatreu). You move Greene to 2nd and sign Matsui to play shortstop. This probably isn't gonna happen though cause I don't see the Sox blowing things up. However, if they want to spend a 70 mill then they will have to do some retooling to fit Wally's style. Your gonna need to dump slugs like Thomas and Konerko and replace them. Everett could replace Thomas at DH while you get someone like Spiezo or a FA to replace PK. Keep the pitching staff and maybe even add a reliever. Add speed at shorstop with Matsui (He's a must sign) and then you get more speed/everydayness in Reed/Rowand who compete. Both play great defense and can do all the little things. Derrek Lee would be a great replacment for Konerko if the Sox can move Konerko. If you move him, package him with Maggs and get some damn good value in return. Like I said earlier from the Pads for Peavy, Greene and Nady. Those are three guys that instantly become starters on this team. Lee easily replaced PK. And the Sox now have the salary options to reup with their pitchers and if you dump Thomas you could add another two good playesr via free agency. Maybe someone like Jacque Jones so you can work in a younger player and as always MATSUI.
DonkeyKongerko
Give me Miles over Willie. I love his hard-nosed type of play. You know I want to increase team speed but not dump all the players. We trade away some power for speed to build a balanced team. Balance is key here. We can probably still keep Frank around for the first few months of a season then we should just dump him in September
DBAHO
Gotta agree wit u on Paulie there. We'll have to get rid of some1 if we want to resign Robbie and Lee and I think he's starting to cool down again. Derrick Lee would be a great fit but he'll be looking for a Paulie style multiyear deal which we just can't offer. Gotta give Ross Gload a little look as well if Daubach doesn't come back either. Also, we only hav 1 guy (Maggs) who bats over .300, how many do Minny hav? That's the difference. Hopefully Wally will light a fire under all of their asses for 2004 although I wouldn't mind seeing Bobby V as well.
Chisoxfn
Give me Miles over Willie. I love his hard-nosed type of play. Agreed. Willie still hasn't shown me he can hit. Although he never has really gotten fully consistent at bats.
DBAHO
If Robbie ain't back in 2004, give Miles da job. THe guy plays hard, hit a double tonight in the 7th and looks like a David Eckstein type. Too bad he can't play SS then we could get rid of Jose and that bloated contrace of his. Cali
Agreed. Willie still hasn't shown me he can hit. Although he never has really gotten fully consistent at bats. Well Aaron hasn't proved he can hit either. Assuming the Sox keep Konerko and Maggs, The Sox are set with some good hitters at the corners in Crede, Lee, Konerko, and Maggs. Up the middle they are really weak. Question Marks a C, 2B, SS, and CF. A guy I'd really like to see, even though his availability is questionable, and his numbers are probably a little inflated is Preston Wilson, a nice solid centerfielder. I also like the Derek Lee idea
DBAHO
Wilson will be wanting big money after his monster year in Coors. Doubt he'll get it though cos guys like Hollandsowrth have shown they can't hit if they don't play at Coors, so I think he'll stay with da Rockies. JoshPR
Remember Miles is not the best defensive 2nd Baseman and lacks range. If you want to balance out we need to shore up the Defense. Robbie , Olivo are good up the Middle and Crede is good. Paulie Can't catch a beachball at first. I think Lee will become the DH and a Big Bopper. Don't think the Pads are gonna give all those guys when Maggs will be in a contract year. they picked up Giles who has a big contract Wilson is having a monster year, but he's had good years with Florida too. I don't want Wilson K's too Much

RudyLawRules
Does Miles have the pop ala Marcus Giles? How many HRs in minors? I liked his AB last night and he is built like that pest Aaron Guiel (sp?) on KC.
