BaconOnAStick
Thank god. I love me some donuts but yeesh it can be painful to watch him catch. Offense will take a step back without him though.
YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
At first I thought they were referring to Carlos Sanchez and I was very confused lol. Even with Avila back, Navarro should get the bulk of the playing time, IMO. He's much better offensively and not that much worse defensively. Jose Abreu
Should've specified which Sanchez, OP!

Truth but I like the idea of seeing if Avila can heat up with the bat. Be a good problem to have. Maybe just run it 50/50 for a couple weeks and see what happens? chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 9, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) Truth but I like the idea of seeing if Avila can heat up with the bat. Be a good problem to have. Maybe just run it 50/50 for a couple weeks and see what happens? "heating up" for Avila at this point in his career would probably be a month of 225/325/375. Dude's bat just looks toast. Injuries have really robbed him of any bat speed it seems. That said, he's still a good defensive catcher and with the way the Sox are playing right now they don't need much offense from catcher to keep winning. Just play solid D and go 1/4 with a walk most nights.
chitownsportsfan
In case anyone was wondering, Flowers has an OPS+ of 64 and is currently mired in a four game hitless streak. I really do believe he was part of the problem in the clubhouse and removing him was one of the first signs that BAU wasn't going to continue in 2016 on the South Side. Bob Sacamano
Yeah not much punch in Avila's bat anymore.
