rt59_bnsf
I found this on mlb.com in an article about the Cards offseason moves: 'Right-hander Cal Eldred also signed a minor league deal with an non-roster invitation. Eldred, 35, has pitched parts of 11 seasons in the Majors, tallying 74 wins with the Brewers and White Sox. Neither Eldred nor Painter pitched in 2002, as both were recovering from elbow surgery.' Good for him. I hope the guy makes it back.
Chisoxfn
Cal is a great guy. He was one of my favorites to watch with the Sox and when he was healthy he was damn good. I think he'll make a good coach whenever he finally gives up the game.

Guest hotsoxchick1
not to defend anyone here but... they were actually at one time talking about putting him in as a coach......i guess cal had different things in mind though.......lol
Chisoxfn
The Sox definately want him as a coach or would like it. He just has to work in the minors before he ever gets a gig at the majors. Rigth now he must think he needs to give it one last shot, so, I say go for it Cal.
cwsox
Odd coincidence. It was against St. Louis when Cal's arm broke down. I was at that game, a Frioday night game, and I cried when we lost Cal. I wish him only the best.

baggio202
i think cal wants to prove to himself that he really cant do it anymore before he moves into coaching...once he doesnt have that thought about i wonder if i could still do it in the back of his mind it will make him a better coach...i liked cal alot and wish only the best for him..and whenever this comeback is over the sox should immediately be waiting with contract in had for for cal with a coaching position
Queen Prawn
I adored Cal when he was here - he has so much heart and determination. I wish we had more guys like that on the team. All the best to him and when he decides to go into coaching, I hope to see him in the Sox organization.
spataro51
I would like to see Cal in our organization as a pitching coach someday. Since he is still trying to pitch, best of luck to him!
