Can't tell you how nervewrecking it was looking at gameday when it said that last batter had strike 3 but then didn't say the game ended for 5 more minutes.

I've had Gameday tell me In Play (outs) when it was actually In Play (no outs). I was heavily disappointed.

He's had better stuff before but his command was perfect tonight

For real. He mixed in his changeup really effectively today, which is something I didn't see as much so far this year.

The best part about Chris this year is that when he pitches, you feel like he's in total control of the game. Like he's just pulling strings in the background to make things happen. In the past, he was more "dominant" per say since he struck more hitters out, but he also had a tendency to get a little erratic at times. That really hasn't happened that much this year.

Thank goodness for Chris Sale. 9-0 are you bleeping me?? He did what Verlander's (in his prime) do. Put an end to slumps. Hopefully Sox can ride the Sale train into the Royals series. Not much offense tonight. Thanks, Mr. Sands.

Was everybody freaking in the game thread for Robin to panic and get somebody up when Sale gave up the homer in the 8th?

The good news:

A. They won

B. Sale is incredible

The bad news:

A. Offense almost shut down by a pitcher with an ERA of about five and a half.

B. Had scoring chances (man on third - no out and get...nothing!) and wasted every one of them.

Still it's a win for a change. Now let's see if someone OTHER than Sale can win a baseball game this weekend. Q needs to pitch well and getting him some offense would be nice...(especially since Gonzales goes Saturday, that could get ugly..)

Q by the way is 1-6 against Kansas City in his career.

To be fair, Quintana has been the victim of some of the lousiest support in history. And he's improved still this year.

You're thinking of the Trib Cubs' beat writer.

Gonzalez with a Z.

Well, at least Abreu had a couple of decent at-bats (robbed homer and another liner to RF)...but, yeah, he's got to be the 900 OPS version and not the mid 700's guy for the White Sox to really be a force.

Keep waiting on the MUCH warmer weather for that hitting instinct to kick back in and for him to go on a tear where he carries the team on his back for 2-3 weeks.

Carlos Sanchez shouldn't even be on the team...needs to be playing everyday in Charlotte or used as trade bait.

As far as Quintana going against KC, you ONLY have to worry about Cain and Salvador Perez. Moustakas won't be in the line-up until Saturday, so that leaves Hosmer who has been hot but is a lefty, Alex Gordon (terrible so far, tons of K's) and Kendrys Morales (abysmal) that can hurt you. And you want to keep Dyson off the basepaths, especially late in games.

The Royals' name players are capable of leading a sweep, since Sale is unavailable. I will throw up if Paulo Orlando beats us in any of the 3 games. I will be bummed if the Royals name players - Perez, Cain, Hosmer, Moustakas, Gordon kick our ass. KC wins minimum of two games. I will be severely pissed if Sox don't win 2 despite that prediction.

On paper, the White Sox should win 2 games and the Indians should lose two, although, in terms of CLE @ BOS, Joe Kelly's been garbage and Porcello/Salazar isn't favorable and Kluber in name seems better than Buchholz, but you should never bet on anyone taking 2/3 in Boston with the way that offense has been firing on all cylinders.

Quintana's having the best season of his career, and Rodon's done better recently. Moustakas won't even face Q.

Gee and Duffy aren't stretched out and neither of those two should go more than 4-5 innings, tops.
