Fowler's already +3.0 in terms of fWAR compared to Jackson. Meanwhile, I'm sure Jackson will play every day because this team's bench construction is ridiculous.

I watched Jackson the last few years in Detroit and Seattle fairly closely. He's a .5 to 1 WAR player. The only good thing signing him did is push everyone else down the defensive spectrum. He got hot last year at the end to salvage an otherwise brutal year at the plate where he was this bad or even worse for long stretches.

This is what happens when you're a cheap f*** and won't spend any money on a good bat. All the pressure is on Jose and Todd and it's not working. I just hope this team is around .500 come July. Keep playing like this and they'll be 8 out of the division and 5 or 6 of the WC come July. Didn't think this team would crawl into a hole.

I thought we got rid of Flowers? Austin Jackson's line after that AB: 220/284/305.

Should have f***ing signed Fowler. I told a lot of you that it was a pointless upgrade. I guess it allowed Eaton to move to RF but Jackson's bat is toast.

You really think 1) he wanted to play here, and 2) he was going to get the same 3 year contract the Orioles SUPPOSEDLY offered him from us? Also, they weren't going to give a one year contract and surrender a draft pick as well, along with paying him almost $15 million.

It wasn't pointless because Eaton has saved 15-16 runs single-handedly in RF and the rest of the team's at -19 DRS.

Do you really think Fowler would have the same numbers for the Sox?

And the Cubs were able to protect him by having him face lefties only

$100,000,000 payroll. Yep, they're cheap.

The real argument is why they didn't go after either Span (no draft pick) or Ian Desmond, because Fowler was never coming to the Sox.

I can see the sweep vs KC but I think they'll take a game from Cleveland.

They can't score runs. We'll see but if they do win one its Sale's start. What a bunch of bulls*** this is.

You have no idea if this is true. If they gave him the 3/45 or so, he would have signed here.

What ya call what they did for a bat this offseason? That was cheap. I'm not saying the organization as a whole is cheap but being frugal isn't going to get you anywhere when you have serious holes.

Nah. He wouldn't have. He wanted to be on the north side.

He wanted the money first. When it didn't come, he chose to go back to build his value up. The Cubs definitely didn't expect him back.

Not cheap, but we're a 3rd quartile payroll in a huge media market.

The Tigers and Royals are WAY ahead of the Sox, especially Detroit.

The best way to put it is that we've spent a TON of money inefficiently or evaluated talent quite poorly....wasting money on guys like Keppinger, LaRoche, Duke, Bonifacio, Kelly Downs, Beckham, the money all adds up even with the contracts at $5 million or less.

The bold should be true, but they're the second team by a long shot in a large market.
