chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) Took a shower, what happened with Avi/Lawrie? fairly hard hit ball to the left side of the infield and right in front of Lawrie at 2B. For some reason he's off on contact (probably had no idea where the SS was) and is easily caught in a run down. At the same time, Avi is off 1st base and gets thrown out. Not really Avi's fault IMO, Lawrie hung him out to dry.
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2016 -> 07:43 PM) Boston was telling him to go We really need to have coaches like other teams in the league that 100% specialize in certain aspects of teaching the game even at the big league level...refinement. Defense, baserunning, bunting, fundamentals, etc. The cronyism thing has helped in the case of Cooper being one of the best for a long time, but it often hurts just as much. And where the heck is Vince Coleman? Edited May 25, 2016 by caulfield12

ChiSoxFanMike
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) Took a shower, what happened with Avi/Lawrie? Lawrie was on second base. Avi hit a grounder to Lindor, the shortstop. Instead of going back to the base, Lawrie took a step forward and froze, and then got thrown out at third base. Avi ran too far past first base at the same time and the Indians then threw and tagged him out too. All in all, it was probably one of the worst baserunning gaffes I've ever seen. ChiSoxFanMike
Not sure if it's purely coincidental, but it seems like Sale pitches much better this season when he has 5 full days of rest as opposed to 4.

The Sir
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 24, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) Significantly hampered his Cy Young chances today too. f*** f*** f*** f*** If anything, Chris Sale's CY status just went from "nobody else gets any righteous votes at all" to "no one else gets a single first place vote". No biggie.
caulfield12
Tomlin's going to put himself on the Cy Young radar as long as he remains undefeated....but it would be a miracle with his stuff if he could sustain this level of performance an entire season. ChiSoxFanMike
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 24, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) If anything, Chris Sale's CY status just went from "nobody else gets any righteous votes at all" to "no one else gets a single first place vote". No biggie. I know it's stupid to worry about it, but I just want to see Sale win at least one of them. The Sox have been so bad as a team the past few years that I've had to settle for rooting for individual players to win awards. I feel like Sale has been worthy of the award quite a few times already but has never gotten the recognition he deserves. Just hope this game is a minor blip on the radar for him and the team as a whole.
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) Bad combination when your bat is too slow to hit a fastball and you can't adjust your swing to hit something slow and low The Tigers are really good judges of hitting talent. Well, except for Upton, haha. Avila and Jackson just weren't the same players and they were let go (Avila by his father). They signed JD Martinez, Nick Castellanos is becoming quite the player (finally) and they also the good sense to bring in Kinsler for Fielder. Gose and Maybin might not work out, but, for one of the "worst" farm systems, they always come up with players like Moya. Greg's OKC bet is working out, but god help us if the Royals take 3/4 or 4/4 with that line-up as Greg also predicted.
