Bananarchy
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) So that whole managing for today thing worked out really well... Any team with any pride would have put this nonsense out of its misery at least a season ago. Robin is getting worse and worse

Yep, ended up not using Jones with the lead last night and then wasted him for 4 outs when they were trailing. Putnam did a fantastic job today, Robertson just freaking choked. Nate Jones and Putnam have been pretty damn good this year, but agree with the concept in general that just too many relievers have melted down of late. Robertson blew it for sure. But we have gotten new players the past few years and tried to win... but the same things keep happening. It's only logical to try different coaches. At some point when your manager has the worse winning % it team history... you just might want to conclude the manager isn't very good.

Sox kick ass again and it's fun again. what we have right now is just pathetic and the arrow pointing wrong direction.
sin city sox fan
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ May 28, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) This is a 82 win team IMO, don't think it matters whether it's Ozzie or Robin or anyone else That is so far from the truth. These last two games do not end up as losses with someone who doesn't have their head up their ass managing the game. I've seen it time and time again during Robin's tenure and he's good to lose 8-10 games a year like these. An average manager could make these wins. Heck just find a manager who's only half as bad as Robin and we'd have 4-5 more wins a year.

flavum
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ May 28, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) This is an 82 win team IMO, don't think it matters whether it's Ozzie or Robin or anyone else So even if part of the 23-10 start was luck, it was perfectly ok if they go 59-70 after that because they were destined for 82-80 with decent health? I'm not buying it. After 23-10 and beating some good teams in the process, 90 wins should have been realistic. They should have been able to tread water for 60-70 games, still been in first place, then make a couple good trades to supplement what they already had. southsider2k5
Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 4h4 hours ago As @rwitro854 points out, in Ozzie Guillen's very 1st game as manager, White Sox gave up 6 runs in 9th inning and lost 9-7 to...the Royals. Good article. Managers are hired to be fired. It's his time to be fired simply because of all the ways they've choked away games in his era. Team is dysfunctional. Don't know if it can ever get back to being a normal team, but things are not looking good right now. A total rebuild is in order and it may take 10 years to change the culture. Maybe more. But Robin is not the guy. They won't fire him though. Remember we were 23-10 at one point and management will let it play out.

Boopa1219
I really wanted to wake up to news of Robin being fired but I had what drug addicts call a 'moment of clarity' while eating my muffin today and realized that firing Robin won't fix the bullpen, it won't add a another quality starter to the rotation and a lefty bat in the lineup. A slump was inevitable, every team goes through one but let's face reality the Sox's roster has a lot of holes and those holes lead to prolonged slumps and a smaller margin of error. The division is still winnable and despite shooting themselves in the face for the past 15 games, the Sox are still in it.
