Game thread: 5/27 Let's do it Again!

he gone.

Well my first ever game thread got taken out by mother nature. Let's do it again.

Same facts as yesterday. Let's get a Gritty win today.

Side note - who pushes back Sale's start??? Especially during this series. I think Monday is set to be Matt Harvey who is downright brutal this year. I'd rather have Sale on Sunday. But yet again Robin shows us how bad a manager can be.

I'm calling an Abreu explosion still. 2 homers.

Sox 7, Royals 5

I don't mind getting him the extra day. It's May.

If you think the decision to move Sale back a day was all Robin's call, then you are surely mistaken. I guarantee KW and Hahn and company all have a say in it. If there is one thing they have done well in the past few years, it's manage Sale's innings. They are making the right call, it's too early in the season to push guys are try to set matchups like that. Who cares who the opponent is, there's a good chance KC will be out of the playoff hunt anyway.

Just an awful, awful line-up structure.

In some ways he is just realigning chairs on the Titanic. They have to right this ship by getting better production out of everyone in the lineup no matter how its aligned.

Yep. With having yesterday off, I bet Eaton is back in today.

Per Rotoworld, he's out today....

Adam Eaton is not in the White Sox' lineup Friday.

He's getting a day off with the Royals throwing left-hander Danny Duffy. Austin Jackson is leading off and in center field, while Avisal Garcia is in right and Jerry Sands is in the designated hitter spot.

That's just awful.

I understood Eaton getting yesterday off, but with the rain out, makes little sense to me that he's out again given that he's destroyed LHP this year. Also not a fan of having your worst option defensively in RF with a RHP on the mound for the Sox.

I agree. No point in sitting him.

Seeing how little Ventura sits his starters, it makes me think he is giving him a day off for a reason, and not just for a day of rest.

First three hitters for Baltimore reach. 1-0 over the O's in Cleveland, runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs against Bauer...who many are looking at to be traded, either him or Carlos Carrasco (once he proves he's healthy after returning to the rotation).

First four, Bauer walked (Davis) the bases loaded, Trumbo up. Couldn't ask for a better start to this one.

LOL. As soon as I read that Eaton wasn't playing, Bauer K's the next two batters. Perfectly fitting. Schoop still has a chance to break it open with a big two-out hit.

3-0 Orioles now. Thank you, Mr. (pronounced Scope) Schoop (he killed us too, with a big hit).

Indians are making some bad plays now, Ramirez throws to 3rd instead of 2nd (trying to nail Adam Jones) and allows Machado to reach on the throw...but Bauer K's Davis for a huge out to remain in the game. Nearly 50 pitches through 2.

Urias got hit pretty hard his first inning in NYC. 4 hits and 3-0 lead, has a very nice and easy 93-95 MPH fastball, but it's relatively straight...threw over 35 pitches but kept his composure, which must not be easy for a 19 year old. Btw, Koufax and Drysdale both debuted at 19 in 1956 and 1957 (Harrelson stat of the day).

Pretty hard to justify sitting Eaton with his numbers against LHP this year and the fact that we REALLY need all our best horses to get going to carry the team through this ten game road trip.

And that's why he is sitting him, 4 for 23 lifetime against Duffy.

Ignoring his 929 OPS vs LHP this year so far in 51 AB's.

Not to mention the fact that Danny Duffy has just come back to the rotation and is likely to face Eaton only twice...maybe, just maybe...three times.

And they say that Ventura's not really a genius using his intuition about line-ups. His last week, he's 6 for 34 so we MUST sit him despite his being one of the Top 5 players in baseball.

That's not even taking into account how bad we make our defense in one of the bigger outfields to patrol in the AL...east of Safeco and south of Minnesota.

(And I'm going to go out on a limb that most of those 23 at-bats came in 2014, when the Royals owned the Sox and Duffy looked like one of the most promising lefties in the AL the first 3-4 months of that season before injuries took their toll down the stretch. Not sure how relevant a handful of at-bats are in 2014. SAMPLE SIZE SAMPLE SIZE SAMPLE SIZE.)
