When Ventura pitches and blows up then it's his fault. Putnam did good. Robertson was a good choice as he needed work. An argument cohldbe made if any time you use your closer in a non save game it might not turn out good. Kahble was not good. But he threw 99. He had been good before. It just seems when we go to the pen one brings the gasoline and the next brings a match

Kahle has really never been good. Has a history of control issues. Naturally Robin calls him in to save the game AND has a guy with control issues intentionally walk guys.

Robin and Cooper (here after known as Dumb and Dumber) MAKE THE DECISIONS. They put the players in situations that aren't the best and expect them to work through it. Good managers put their players in the best positions to achieve success.

Ventura has very little clue after 4 1/2 seasons how to do this. (and before you use the excuse, 'he's doesn't have any talent... he does. It's been upgraded a lot)

From the batting order to his use of the bullpen it's total, complete, sheer lunacy.

AND THAT'S 100% ON HIM.

Sox are overall 9-8 against the division.

6-0 against the Twins.

Do the math.

They can't beat Cleveland, they can't beat K.C. They have ZERO chance if that doesn't change. (And they haven't beaten teams in the division on a regular basis in years...)

I remember the good 'ol days when Lip was perceived to be fairly optimistic over at WSI.

Amazing what all this losing will do to fans over time. It gets to the point where you expect things to go wrong so you can't be too surprised or upset....but then, when they were 6 outs from being 14 games over .500 (and somehow surviving the previous game and getting a grand slam from Frazier), you could finally feel things turning for the better and a playoff appearance in the offing. It didn't feel automatic, but pretty close to "likely" at least.

And, to top it off, we don't even have the right to suffer like Cubs, Padres, Mariners or Indians fans, because it's only been 11 years since the World Series!!! Heck, even the Marlins got two World Series titles to go with all their suffering, two within the span of six years.

Or really played well at home...perhaps since 2008 (or that 26-5 stretch in 2010, but even most of that was on the road if memory serves correctly, against NL East teams).

They have done what they have always done under Ventura... when its time to get key wins against divisional foes - they turtle up.

It's been that way for 4 years.

Yeah the current state of affairs as it the white sox are still in it...

But it sure feels the same as the past 4 years.

I wish it was different this year - but it really doesn't feel different.
