caulfield12
Everyone's going to jump all over me, but I don't see Cleveland beating KC for the division. There's just something about their chemistry and resilience that no other team can match..despite throwing out a line-up of scrubs AND Hosmer/Cain/Escobar/Morales. Throughout this series, we let Hosmer beat us. Cain there as well in the 8th. But obviously, so did Orlando and Eibner and a host of other unknowns like Butera and Cuthbert. Merrifield looks like a young Zobrist against us. Cuthbert's a better defender than Moustakas, and they weren't missing too much with the way Gordon was hitting. Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) One thing you do ask for your manager to do is handle personalities well enough that "When they get into a funk, and everyone is screwing up and failing, it doesn't expand to the whole team or they snap out of it quickly". That's where a "good manager for the people on the team" earns his money. This x1,000,000. Glad you have risen from the grave Balta join us in this trying time. Swingandalongonetoleft
This series fully warrants someone's job. It's not on him entitrely, but if ever a time for Ventura to be fired, this is it.

caulfield12
And, unless you just want to completely rebuild starting at midseason, you absolutely have to let Renteria try with this team to turn things around and see if some of the younger players (see KC) who have never had an opportunity could be the foundation for a playoff contender next year... Especially Saladino and Anderson. Ironic, in the sense that both can't play at the same time. Need a decision once and for all on Garcia. Otherwise, you have to trade Frazier/Cabrera/Lawrie and start the great Eaton/Quintana/Sale sweepstakes. Hopefully Abreu can rebound as well...because a below average fielding low 700ish OPS 1B isn't worth a thing on the trade market. Greg Hibbard
QUOTE (Baron @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) He's part of it and the easiest to try to fix. Why dont people understand this yet? So who do you replace Robin with, tomorrow? "Anyone else" is not really an acceptable answer here. There is literally no reason to believe anyone outside of this organization could right these problems this week. The fact of the matter is that Ventura will be here all year because this organization is not prepared to make that change mid season.
daggins
If Ajax goes to the DL, do the Sox bring up Coats? They don't really have any CF, but I guess they could call up Leury (ugh).
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) It used to be just Quintana's issue, but it is now plaguing the whole team. We get a hitter to 0-2 or 1-2 and just throw ball after ball after ball. My god, there is NOT a rule against throwing a ball in the strike zone with 2 strikes. No kidding, it's incredibly frustrating watching these relievers just waste pitches hoping the opposing batters will chase. Then before you know it the count is full and here comes a walk

caulfield12
It would be Shuck or Leury Garcia for Jackson. Renteria's the clear choice for interim and potential for an extension if he rights this sinking ship. No way in hell it would be Bell. I'd almost like to see KW pull a Dan Jennings and put his job on the line as manager. Now that, at least, would be entertaining.

Y2HH
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) This team isn't this bad. They're playing "Braves level" right now, they're not nearly that bad. Teams are never as bad as they look when they're playing their worst. (But the converse should have been remembered in April). I honestly hope you're right. It's just hard to see the forest for the trees at this point.

caulfield12
Got the order of those games and walks out of whack...but the point still stands about rallies being fueled by late inning walks 90% of the time.
