Bevington would turn out to be a disaster on the field and in the clubhouse and the long term effects of the way Lamont was dismissed would cause his mentor and former Sox coach Jim Leyland to turn down overtures by owner Jerry Reinsdorf to take over after Bevington was removed. The Ginger Kid Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 I'd rather see the team turn it around under Ventura. Lost in the weekend collapse is the fact that they were in a position to sweep KC. Seriously, step back for a minute and think about it: David Robertson blew a 6 run lead in the 9th. How the f*** can you make sense of that? Just forget about it. This team has lost 6 in a row and still finds itself 3 games over .500 and in good position to contend for the lead. Did anyone seriously think they were going to run away with the division? That is probably very unfair but that's also reality. No one expected them to run away with the division. Most thought though given the areas of weakness on the team that they were playing far over their heads and that it was only a matter of time. That time has apparently come.
