caulfield12
He's happy with Saladino (for now) and also happy with Anderson for pushing the issue (and timeframe up in many minds) and rapidly improving from his tepid start in AAA. BLAH BLAH. Not the best news for those who thought he could inject a dynamic force/speed/athleticism into the moribund Sox offense, though. caulfield12
Looks like the thread just got split here into another one on Anderson's status...

ptatc
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) Muscular things don't send pain down the arm. Could this be another reason why they traded for Shields so soon?
Dick Allen
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) Could this be another reason why they traded for Shields so soon? Pain coming from the neck to the arm wouldn't concern me so much, could be a sublexation or a pinched nerve, but it kind of alarms me they would take an MRI . Balta1701
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) Could this be another reason why they traded for Shields so soon? Rodon last pitched on Friday night and the trade was done Saturday afternoon. That timeline doesn't seem to work mentally for me since he wasn't pulled out of the game. With the offday, wouldn't yesterday or today have been his normal throwing day? Seems to fit more naturally that "this cropped up and now it's a problem once we're at his normal throwing day, so let's be cautious since we already have the extra pitcher". Black_Jack29
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Could this be another reason why they traded for Shields so soon? Rodon's youth and lack of arm conditioning in general was likely a reason why they brought Shields into the fold and are keeping Gonzalez on the 25-man. They did the MRI to rule out a cervical disc issue. This tells me it's most likely a nerve issue. The question would be what is "pinching" the nerve if there is no disc involvement.
