harkness99
They are really making me laugh... This team has a bunch of horrible pitchers... a manager that can't win... an offense that usually runs at putrid. But lets keep adding people! scotty22hotty
Basically a left handed Avi. A massive upgrade at DH but a large enough downgrade at RF that he should never play on the field. Only makes sense if Avi is then traded for relief help. Amazing this guy hasn't tried moving to 1B.
Lemon_44
What's the problem with adding Bruce? He's not going to cost much talent-wise and he's a good player that hits left-handed, which is something this team needs. They may not win it this year but I still don't see a problem with him being on the roster. Maybe they do turn it around and win this year. You never know. Bruce may cost something like Matt Davidson and Beck, if that. I do that trade everyday.

skooch
Jay Bruce = 13 HR, 40 RBI, 0.922 OPS, 142 OPS+ as a left-handed bat with 1.5 yrs of control near the trade deadline. I think it might cost quite a bit more.
caulfield12
The Reds already traded one franchise player in Frazier. Another in Chapman. They have Votto, whose value is way way down. No way they just give Bruce away for salary relief when there are so many teams in the AL desperate for that one extra bat to carry them over the top. Other than OAK, TB and Minnesota, everyone could be buying...even the Astros, although that's questionable on their part. Bigsoxhurt35
You make a trade ASAP or sell. It's not worth puttsing around for six more weeks and being even more out of it and then trading for a bat. This trade will be a mistake. Not because I think Bruce sucks but because this team just isn't very good. Bruce would come here and immediately suck too with the Sox luck lately with hitters. Sad thing is that a LH bat and a stable bullpen presence are both needs that need to be addressed simultaneously. I've been telling friends for two months that the Sox won't last and haven't brought that attitude here. However, it's sadly true. If they don't go like 15 and 5 or something over the next 20, they're screwed. LaRoche bailing last minute set up a gaping hole. Trying to win now and protect draft picks set up another. They had a shot to do something great but the flaws were there from the start. For me, the buck stops at KW and Hanh. Let's see if they fix it. I think it might cost quite a bit more. I think he would have been pretty cheap earlier. Now, not only are you paying for his better numbers, you have to figure some regression is coming. I wouldn't mind the Sox picking him up, but this has to be mostly a financial transaction from the Sox point.
Bob Sacamano
Honestly ok with the Sox going all in over next few months (in the off-season even to try next year). As long as the fallback plan was to rebuild if things look bad starting by trading guys like Eaton, Sale, Quintana, Robertson, whoever else we may acquire and half season rentals of Frazier and Lawrie to restock the farm. Chicago White Sox
What's sad is we should have got Bruce right after LaRoche retired, but instead gave Avi one last opportunity. Now we'll have pay a much higher price if we want him, unless his defense limitations drive away suitors. Very frustrating we didn't address this need before the season, even if it was only an interim solution. And I get some posters are skeptical of Bruce, which is fair, but look around the league and see what else is available. There will be slim pickings in terms of left-handed bats and the costs will be high. The one plus to Bruce is the Reds might want us to take on his full salary and ultimately pay less in prospects. That's exactly the type of move we should be targeting right now.
caulfield12
http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/6/7/11876...7858.1463293193 This also happens to be the rare offseason when all of the big free agent deals are working out pretty darned well, other than Heyward and Upton. That's usually not the case. Fwiw, I would also include Alex Gordon on the list, although the argument for keeping him isn't insignificant from a pr/hometown hero perspective. southsider2k5
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) It really has nothing to do with Rick Hahn. Jerry Reinsdorf wants to add so they'll be adding. This concept is somehow really hard for people to figure out though. I honestly believe it is just easier to blame Kenny.
