Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) So he is out till after the All Star game. Then he will need at least a couple weeks in Charlotte seeing live pitching which means around August 1st. Can he manage the team until he is ready??? NO. He's heading out on a rehab soon. Should be playing for Sox after ASB
Chicago White Sox
This move pretty much guarantees we'll be trading for Lucroy IMO. Don't have the trade trips for two offensive upgrades (which we need), so we're rolling the dice on Morneau filling the DH role cheaply. Allows us the following lineup: 1. Eaton, RF 2. Jackson, CF 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Cabrera, LF 5. Frazier, 3B 6. Lucroy, C 7. Lawrie, 2B 8. Morneau, DH 9. Anderson, SS Print those World Series tickets fellas. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Take your Sox hatred blinders off. This is absolutely the right move to make. The guy won a batting title two years ago and was hitting over .300 last year before he was hurt. $1 million is chump change in MLB. If he sucks you cut him loose, no big loss. THIS x 1000000000 . In his last 782 AB's covering 2014 and 2015 he hit about .315 . OBP around .364 and OPS around .

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) How were his home/road splits in Colorado? That's always a concern with Rockies players. Batting average , SLG. OPS all higher in CO. but not significantly. HR's almost doubled in Coors but OBP the same all for 2014 2015 much better at Coors but had a lot less AB's since he missed a big chunk of the season. He is also not a stiff against lefties but really mashes righties. Almost all of his HR's will come of off RH's. Lip Man 1
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) Jimmy Rollins, Jim Thome (who was actually productive based on what we paid him after the subsidy), Omar Vizquel, Tom Seaver, Griffey,Jr., Roberto and Sandy Alomar, Steve Carlton....seems like we're back in the late 80's when we routinely would bring in aging veterans on their very last legs, then again in the mid to late 90's. Morneau seems to fit right in with this scenario. Former MVP's/All-Stars, etc.. Carl Crawford must be next. Seaver won 15 games both seasons with an ERA if I remember of under 3.5 and he pitched a ton of innings. There was nothing broken down about him at all with the Sox. caulfield12
Yeah, I remember going to a game in 1985 or 86 that he pitched in Old Comiskey. Was just trying to think of former HoF'er the Sox have brought on board. I guess Bo Jackson counts for the College Football Hall of Fame, right? greg775
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 04:56 AM) Seaver won 15 games both seasons with an ERA if I remember of under 3.5 and he pitched a ton of innings. There was nothing broken down about him at all with the Sox. Mark Seaver was effective. He just lost it after six, seven innings some times. I think he had several six inning no hitters, then boom. But he was good as a White Sox. I think they traded him to a contender for his final hurrah.
SoxAce
If this was 2010, we'd have one hell of a lineup.

He can stay on the DL indefinitely. He is traveling with the team, and taking soft tosses. When he goes for a rehab, who knows. If he will be any good, who knows? When he goes for a rehab, who knows. If he will be any good, who knows? Since Thome we have not had an effective left handed hitter who could play the designated hitter role effectively if Morneau could play first base even better. Thome did receive the comebackplayer of the year award.
