harkness99
Today was especially horrible. The KC pitchers will throw 1 strike in 10 pitches and the inning will be over. I'm sorry but how people/players coaching staff couldn't be angry in that dugout at what our hitters are doing after the past couple days is beyond me. I wish I could have been above that dugout today. Unbelievable.
WhiteSoxfan1986
It's pathetic. Guys with terrible ERAs (Ventura, Pelfrey, etc.) making it look easy against the Sox. Lawrie looks completely lost.
Dam8610
Wasn't a big part of the hot start the patience of the hitters? If so, shouldn't that be what they're trying to replicate now?
elrockinMT
Bill Melton had nothing good to say about the offense. They are chasing everything and anything out of the zone

Harry Chappas
This is the white sox philosophy both hiiting and pitching and the reason divisional teams are killing them. No need to throw a strike to get White Sox hitters out.

The Beast
I've noticed that Lawrie is always in an 0-2 count...pitchers must know to get ahead of him and he'll be an automatic out.
ScootsMcGoots
I think what they should do is watch a tape of a game of a good hitting team like say the Red Sox, and compare it with a tape of a game with their own offense and compare the two...and make the necessary adjustments based on what they see and learn
harkness99
QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) I've noticed that Lawrie is always in an 0-2 count...pitchers must know to get ahead of him and he'll be an automatic out. This guys mental approach to hitting is bad... if he could just learn to lay of 25% more bad pitches he would find a lot more success. BigHurt3515
You would think the 4 home runs and 7 runs on Friday would have kicked started the team. And don't forget it was the 3rd time we have seen Duffy and Ventura in the past month!
reiks12
Posted this in the game thread: Adam Eaton's line against Detroit, KC, and Cleveland: .177 AVG, .213 OBP, .302 Slugging He really needs to get going against them. If he can get out of this mental funk against these teams then the rest of the lineup will follow.

I miss the Lawrie that used to have good at bats and take walks.

Lawrie has pop when he makes contact.. he just has poor pitch recognition. He swings at balls and takes strikes.
caulfield12
http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/sor...outs/order/true Lawrie is 7th in the majors in K's. Besides Justin Upton, everyone else in the Top 17 has more homers. If you can't make contact, nothing positive will happen with RISP, other than avoiding hitting into a DP. Do you know how much time you have to decipher that pitch? Do you know why the best hitter only hits .330 or so every year? Baseball is not easy. s***ty games happen, and bad matchups happen, and the Sox really don't match up well with the Royals right now, especially with Jackson out for an extended period of time. But I'm sure you wish you could have been above that dugout. I'm guessing that if Avisail Garcia were watching every little thing you did while you were working and he say you screw up, the first thing he'd do was yell "BOOO!" He swings at balls and takes strikes. What you have said is not untrue. However, if a hitter is going to swing and miss at balls, why would you throw him strikes? Regardless,, he just does not make contact in general. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...platediscipline (click on 'averages' to compare to the league)

Oh boy... the old "if you can't do it you can criticize argument" Yeah I better not vote for president or pretty much have an opinion about most anything in life. Have you really ever thought that line of reasoning out? I didn't say in the dugout either buddy, nor do I think hitting is easy - it's probably on of the toughest things athletically to do is hit a major league pitcher. However, the white sox performance batting that day was one of the top 5 worse I've seen all year - I watch a lot of baseball (MLB package) but the problem is they have been having these problems for years. It wasn't just "a bad day" or "bad match up." It's been going on for awhile. Edited June 14, 2016 by harkness
