Ian Desmomd, Ian Desmond...you wanted to sign him in June. Now, with hindsight signing him was the obvious move you wanted them to make all along. But it wasn't. $10 million for Latos, $8 million for Parra and sign Desmomd in June. That is Caulfield without hindsight. No so good. Although I did appreciate how when Duke stunk up the joint a week or so ago,you claimed you were against that move from the beginning. I will get in trouble if I show your actual post in the Duke signing thread, but let's just say, your memory is a bit off.

He was high on Desmond though the whole off-season. Gotta give him that.

Despite believing any team could sign him as of Friday. Probably wouldn't have too good of a season either signing around now.

That was the market in early January.

Obviously, CONDITIONS CAN AND DO CHANGE.

Just like James Shields wasn't available for a 50% discount 10 days ago...until Hahn thought the cost-benefit analysis/ROI was too good to pass on. Don't you think Rick Hahn would send James Shields back to SD and negate the trade as of this moment if he could?

From an offensive standpoint, Parra has been absolutely fine. Depending on how much we trust the defensive metrics, a lot of his value has been negated.

As bad as Avi looks out there, he's not the one serving up meatballs that are getting crushed to the back of the warning track.

Around the fence OF can look real silly, especially if they aren't so good out there to begin with.

Actually, it wouldn't be the worst choice. ANYONE with an outsider's perspective. He's on a lot of Top 5-10 lists for replacing current managers, at least he was going into last offseason.

He is the head of player development with the Dodgers, so he works with the players a lot. And Freidman has taken him under his wing a bit and has been showing him the ropes in terms of scouting and analytics. Similar rise to Matheny.
