Will there be any more Matthews apparel in the Toronto arena team store after tonight's game?

That goal where he stole the puck and stick handled everyone in the building was a goal of the year type of highlight reel play. WOW>

Forsling, Kempny and Motte looked very good in their NHL debuts. Seabrook was great. Toews and Panik solid.

TVR on the other hand was terrible. Slow, not physical and no offense. Ideally a #7 defenseman at best, but can be a #6 who should rotate in that spot. Schmaltz wasn't very good. Tootoo was as invisible as his ice time.

It was a one goal game until they pulled Crawford at the end. They were fine.

They were headed into the second intermission with a lead until the barrage of penalties hit.

Counterpoint: They had 9 shots on goal in two periods.

It wasn't pretty, it's gonna take a while to start gelling, but no need to Panik (:P) yet.

This is pretty much my take on last night's game as well, the 9 shots is what really had me concerned after the game. Have to hope some of these young guys take a step forward this year or this offense won't cut it.

Can the Hawks franchise cornerstone with a history of concussions please not start fights? Thanks.

I tend to not believe in hockey fighting because statistics don't really bear out that they are effective, but if one must fight, it probably shouldn't be a valuable player like Toews. Especially because it's Toews; he's not exactly a notable fighter.

The rematch is going the Hawks way so far up 3-1 after the 1st period. Goals by Schmaltz, Seabrook and Panik. Darling in goal. Nashville goal came after Kempny made a poor decision that resulted in a 3 on 1 where Preds got the rebound and the goal.

The goal by Schmaltz and Seabrook were both deflected by Nashville so Hawks getting some good luck but that happens when you are aggressive. Hawks outshot in the 1st. Darling definitely playing well.
