flavum
The Sox were ahead of the Royals 13 days ago. Royals 16-3 the last 19. Best record in the AL against teams in their own division, and every team plays 8 of the last 10 series in the division. http://www.espn.com/mlb/standings/_/view/w...rd/group/league A six-way tie for the second wildcard would be cool. caulfield12
Seattle, Houston, KC and the Yankees miraculously all in it... And Baltimore without Tillman now. Seems it will come down to that usual 88-89 win total. For KC and Houston, that would mean 21/22 and 13/12 loss finishes. The only teams that would have better final stretches would be the 2013 LAD and 2015 Blue Jays. 7-19 in July followed by 18-6 so far in August. tray
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) lol, wut. You'd rather stay home than go the World Series and lose? LOL. Who could ever forget the Cubs 2003 Bartman choke or the Cubs choke last year getting swept 4 games by the Mets. I'm saying it would be better not to have those chokes cemented in the memory of their fans. Beyond that, what is the big deal about just making the playoffs? Do they hand out a trophy for that? LOL Edited August 28, 2016 by miracleon35th
hi8is
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Beyond that, what is the big deal about just making the playoffs? Do they hand out a trophy for that? LOL The thought process is: anything can happen. Say the Sox squeezed into the playoffs this year. Even though it won't happen... Just imagine it. Then you've got Sale / Q / Rodon / Gonzo throwing against teams. Anything can happen. You know this - we all know this. Blah, blah, blah, blah. All I remember is friends who were Cubs fans saying they HAD WAITED THEIR ENTIRE LIFE FOR THAT SERIES. Like...guys...2003 happened. You've been there in your lifetime unless you're 13 or younger. LOL Money , son, money. Build buzz, getting noticed nationwide for more than the Stadium name or cutting jerseys and LaRoche Sell more jerseys, more concessions, more parking, more people through the turnstyles all meaning more money to spend on the roster or scouts or international studs. Do it a few years in a row , win a World Series or two, rinse and repeat. Gotta start somewhere.
flavum
Every team in baseball now plays 8 of their final 10 series in the division. Remaining records to end up at 86-76: Bal 15-17 Det 17-15 Hou 18-14 Sea 18-14 KC 18-14 NY 19-14 Sox 23-10 23-10. Looks familiar. Won't happen, but the 2nd wildcard should be interesting. It really is a race to 88 wins, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Royals win it. They are 34-17 in the division, and play a ton at home...a great combination for them.
