Condor13
Any chance the sox take a chance on this guy. He has to be better than Schuck and Coats. The Sox need to do something soon, could this work for the Sox?
flavum
Almost 29 and bad. No. Stop spelling Shuck that way.
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Any chance the sox take a chance on this guy. He has to be better than Schuck and Coats. Sounds like he will be released on monday, so Boston has to pay the rest of his salary. Don't know why my phone keeps putting a C in Shuck

Jake
I wouldn't give him any reps on the MLB roster, that's for sure. If he wants to go to AAA and prove he can hit, then why not
Dick Allen
The Saks are just taking him off the 40. If you want him you have to pay him a lot of money. .
southsider2k5
There are Alex Guerrero, Reyes, and now Castillo out there. Plus you have Morneau waiting to play. If you want a lottery ticket, they are out there.
caulfield12
Nobody's going to claim Castillo and take on his salary. He's undoubtedly better than Shuck/Sands/Avi/Coats, though. The type of player a rebuilding team gives 3-4 months of regular playing time to earn a starting position for 2017.
ranger2004
Not a big fan of Castillo, but would love to see the Sox talk to the Cardinals about Randal Grichuk who they sent down to Triple A.

Bigsoxhurt35
No f***ing way to this one especially that contract.
oldsox
Castillo optioned to AAA by Bosox. They are still paying him; no team wanted him at that price. Makes one think that maybe some of these Cuban FA's are over rated/over priced. Edited June 20, 2016 by oldsox
southsider2k5
Castillo owes Jose Abreu a ton of money.
Dick Allen
There have definitely been some Cuban busts lately.
ChiSox59
I'd definitely be interested if the Red Sox ate 95% of his contract.
Bob Sacamano
Yeah he just goes off the 40. That's all him being waived is. Boston is better off holding onto him and seeing if he can turn it around off of the 40 man roster.
ChiSox59
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) Yeah he just goes off the 40. That's all him being waived is. Boston is better off holding onto him and seeing if he can turn it around off of the 40 man roster. If they wanted him off the 40 man, they probably don't want him at all. That said, yes, it would make more sense for them to just see if he can figure it out since at most they'll recoup a few million bucks.
