Name: Corey Zangari

Height: 6'4" Weight: 240

Bats: Right Throws: Right

DOB: 05/07/1997 (Current Age 19 years 1 month)

Acquired: 6th Round (172nd Overall) 2015 Amateur Draft

Current Affiliate: Great Falls Voyagers (Rookie)

Other Affiliates: AZL White Sox (Rookie), Kannapolis Intimidators (A)

Background: Zangari burst onto the scene in 2015 with a very impressive performance in the Arizona League, where he hit .323 with 20 extra base hits and an .848 OPS. He performed so well there that the organization gave him a late season promotion to Great Falls, where he struggled a little to close out the season. In 2016, Zangari opened the season in A ball with the Kannapolis Intimidators, where he struggled mightily, failing to hit even .200 with the club. The White Sox recently decided to demote Zangari to Great Falls, where he is facing more age appropriate competition (though he's still 1.5 years younger than league average), and he has been on a tear in the 5 games he's played with the Voyagers, sporting a .333 average with an OPS of 1.131. The hope is that the assignment was just a little too aggressive for Corey, and that he'll continue mashing at Great Falls and be ready for a promotion back to Kannapolis either by season's end or heading into 2017.

Man what a disaster year 2 for him.

He was terrible at Kannapolis. His start since being sent to Great Falls is promising though in 40 plate appearances: .324/.375/.676 with 3 HR and 10 RBI. He does have a crazy high .500 BABIP and a K% of 40% but a great .351 ISO with a wRc+ of 151.

He has a .951 OPS at a more age appropriate level. I wouldnt really call this year a disaster, he IS a 6th round pick.

That shocks me as every great falls update I see Zangari 0-4 3 ks since his demotion. Where are the good Zangari tweets.

He is striking out way too much but he's 19 and has incredible power

Nice to see that he says he has matured and is more appreciative of what he has because of the TJ surgery. Worked hard to come back in better shape and it was paying off until the more recent injury.
