caulfield12
QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) How can that be when the Newark Bears no longer exist? http://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/2014/04/...city_again.html Sonoma Stompers. More his style, wine country. The team that just had two women playing for them, making history of a sort.

fathom
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:59 AM) What is coop doing with him? Rodon doesn't have good enough command to try and pace himself like Verlander. There was only a 3-4 mph difference between fastball and slider tonight. Chicago White Sox
Avi Garcia WAR by year: 2013: -0.5 2014: -0.4 2015: -1.1 2016: -0.4 Absolutely mind-boggling this bum is still on our major league roster.
The Sir
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) the sox are averaging 5.1 runs a game over their last 12. They're facing Tanaka and it doesn't appear that Rodon is going to shut them down anytime soon. I'm still watching but I suspect this will get very out of hand, unfortunately. The Sir
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Rodon has a chance still to be a good pitcher. Avi Garcia, on the other hand, is dogs***. This. I fully expect Rodon to reach at least Quintana's level. Avisail just needs to disappear.
chitownsportsfan
Most troubling thing I've seen with Rodon is he hasn't developed his change hardly at all and his fastball command is as bad as ever. Mechanically he still appears to be falling off the rubber to his arm side and this gives him all sorts of trouble when trying to locate middle in to righties. The stuff is still there but with his command issues he's forced into throwing fastballs and sliders behind in the count and that is not a recipe for anything other than mediocrity. Once again I have to say that Don Cooper's magic dust has long worn off on the South Side.

caulfield12
107 hits in 91 IP. That's more Buehrle/Danks-esque. Certainly not what you'd expect from a future ace. Should we just be contented not to have Kolek or Aiken? Career 3.94 ERA with 227 hits in 226+ IP. Edited July 6, 2016 by caulfield12

South Side Fireworks Man
I wonder after working with Cooper for so long if Rodon is even capable of throwing 98 anymore. Maybe his arm atrophied. Use it or lose it. Maybe it would be better for the Sox to get a different pitching coach to work with Burdi.
