Whisox05
http://nypost.com/2016/07/06/yankees-prosp...-got-suspended/ The White Sox inquired on Wednesday about Yankees catching prospect Gary Sanchez. The talks never got serious when, a source in the know said, the Yankees’ asking price was “far too high.’’ The White Sox are looking for a catcher after placing Alex Avila on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury. What would be considered "too high?" If they want a top pitching prospect or two, it could be worth it to bring in another top position player into the org. ChiSox59
How about Brian McCann instead? Realistically, I don't see the Yanks selling unless they have a rough couple weeks. Edited July 8, 2016 by ChiSox59

caulfield12
Odds are the Yankees are going to "stand pat" like the White Sox did last year...even though it's probably not in their best interest.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) How about Brian McCann instead? Realistically, I don't see the Yanks selling unless they have a rough couple weeks. With that contract, they would probably just give us McCann. That is an ugly contract for a guy who was just publicly labeled as an $85 million platoon player.
ChiSox59
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) With that contract, they would probably just give us McCann. That is an ugly contract for a guy who was just publicly labeled as an $85 million platoon player. At least its the strong side of the platoon. $17M in 17 and 18, and $15M in 2019. Still has an OPS of .771 this year; still won the SS last year despite the 3rd lowest OPS of his career. Could transition him to 1B/DH in a couple years. For being a catcher, I don't think that contract is THAT crazy. But if the Sox plan on moving Collins quickly, it probably doesn't make sense.
